Islington Festival of Music and Art - Bach and Beer evening concert

About the festival:

We welcome you with open arms to the first Islington Festival of Music and Arts, which will take place at the end of July , in a celebration of music and the arts in Islington, North London. We were inspired by the enormous happiness and energy that many Londoners demonstrated last year, when we organised a series of chamber music concerts in private gardens and outside spaces in our local neighbourhood. We have spent the long winter months beavering away to present this 4-Day Festival of wonderful music for you to enjoy, and a few other events too!
We are proud to announce that we are presenting 15 events during the 4 days, including 11 concerts in beautiful and inspiring buildings throughout the Borough of Islington. There are 3 Series of concerts, always at the same time each day.

About the Late Night Bach Series:

These events will be shared between the Newington Green Meeting House, No 20 Arts, and The Old Queens Head pub. The Meeting House has recently undergone major renovation and refurbishment thanks to support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and is now  an amazing building with a fantastic acoustic too! No 20 Arts is a beautiful contemporary art gallery, and The Old Queen’s Head is a famous landmark building in Islington, which regularly hosts concerts and other events. These 4 concerts are exclusively devoted to the works of J.S. Bach, and include solo  violin ,   lute music, and 3 of the outstanding choral Motets.

This concert will see music from:

J.S. Bach ~    Komm, Jesu, Komm BWV 229
J.S. Bach ~    Jesu, Meine Freude BWV 227
J.S. Bach ~    Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied BWV 225
