Get Crafty! Mary Wollstonecraft art competition for young people
Calling all local, young creatives!
Newington Green Meeting House: Revolutionary Ideas project and Hackney Museum are launching an exciting project to celebrate the life and work of Mary Wollstonecraft, Britain’s first feminist and famous local resident. We are asking school students in Hackney and Islington to create a piece of art inspired by Mary’s story and her time at Newington Green. Ten entries, shortlisted by a panel of judges including the ‘Fandangoe Kid’ and the Mayor of Hackney, will then be displayed at Newington Green Meeting House in 2021. The winner will receive an art supplies voucher courtesy of the Wollstonecraft Society and their artwork to be on permanent display in the Meeting House.
You have until March 2021 to submit your entries!
We are now happy to announce the programme is now open to primary schools, secondary schools and young people in Islington and Hackney who may want to enter in their own time. There will be two categories:
- 10 and below
- 11-18 years of age
Access the free supporting powerpoint to find out how to enter, entry requirements, supporting information and more (all narrated by us!)
