We’ve focused on making sure we have high quality educational and creative provision for local families and children this summer.
You might have seen or taken part in Kelly Sweeney of ArtMonkee‘s workshops? Two full days of creative activities, support and excitement where young local learners got Kelly to themselves to help them flourish in their creativity. Newington Green Meeting House funded three full placements for local children in order to support children and families in need of this support in the area – regardless of income.
And if you haven’t already popped in, every Tuesday and Thursday in the Meeting House (10-4pm) we have free art and craft activities on offer. So far we’ve been making protest badges, making crepe paper flowers inspired by the current re-wilding exhibition and next up we will be using microscopes to find out what kinds of creatures are hiding in water samples, inspired by some of the famous scientists of the Meeting Houses past. No need to book – just come on in (parents and guardians – the kettle is always on too!).
And we’re not stopping when term starts again. We’re working with VLC to make Newington Green Meeting House home to their new ‘pay what you can’ free online and in-person tutoring programme for young local learners. Starting from September 9th, every Thursday 5-7pm, come along and get your learners some help from these amazing volunteer teachers and educationalists!
