Project launch postponed update

The Newington Green Meeting House: Revolutionary Ideas Since 1708 project’s planned launch has been postponed due to the Covid 19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

Instead, the team will work to create resources that can be shared online, such as teaching resources and live-streamed activities, and will also devote energy to planning an autumn/winter programme.

Please see the fantastic Wollstonecraft Walks in the meantime. This project comes from locals Professor Anna Birch (through her directorial work with Fragments and Monuments) and Scary Little Girls, a feminist theatre company. Here you can take a virtual tour of Newington Green and learn more about the local radical history!

The team intends to re-open and kick off some of the on-site work in the activity plan as soon as it can. This will depend on volunteer recruitment and government/health advice. The team will keep the situation under review and announce more information as soon as possible.

The planned celebration for Mary Wollstonecraft’s birthday on April 24th and 25th has been postponed for a year by the organisers. A planned performance of “An Amazon Stept Out”, which was due to take place on April 25th, will now not be going ahead either in-person or as a livestream.

The team would like to thank the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the main funders, for their continued support during this time.
